Abstract

Students traditionally struggle to conceptualize logarithms as families of functions in their own right. I present an approach to support students' understanding of logarithmic functions. The common properties of logarithms become defining characteristics, which complements the traditional approach of studying logarithms as the inverses of exponentials.
