“This painting represents the return to a home that was the place of several traumatic events and being forced to live there during the quarantine. The emotional strain of having PTSD and sleeping in the same room that harbors that trauma is reflected in Return to Pain. As the figure phases in and out of the window, the past blends into their reality similar to how I feel during a flashback.” – Juliette Black
