In Vasovagal, taken after getting blood drawn to get medication for mental disorders, Hoag wanted to achieve a more water-color effect. “Blood draws make me very uncomfortable and I almost always get very nauseous and anxious from them,” says Hoag. Inspired by artist Jerome Witkin, Hoag again uses color to clearly make the audience feel certain emotions. What do you feel looking at these paintings?
