The Digital Photographic Plots (PhoPlot) Database is a collaborative project between the University Libraries and Dr. Scott Franklin, Associate Professor in the School of Biological Sciences, to preserve and share photographic records of vegetation research plots. Initially conceptualized in 2014, the database aims to serve as a national repository for such photos.
These collections of photographic records support many research objectives by providing pictorial histories (multiple pictures of the same location over time), an additional means of locating previously sampled plots, and views of sampling locations. This initiative also ensures the preservation of valuable images from retiring ecologists, making them accessible a broader community of researchers.
