Abstract
Blue-collar workers are a population that impacts nearly everyone who interacts with modern infrastructure. Although they are crucial to modern life they are a population that is not widely researched or understood. This study aims to gain a more robust understanding of blue-collar workers by investigating male blue-collar workers in Colorado. This study will investigate how male blue-collar workers regulate their emotions. Emotional regulation will be measured using the Emotional Regulation Questionnaire. It is hypothesized that male blue-collar workers within Colorado will show that emotional suppression is a used emotional regulation tactic. It is essential to understand this because emotional suppression poses risks; some being a lack of impulse control, social relationship strain, cardiovascular health risks, and anxiety (Casagrande et al., 2019), (Cundiff et al., 2018), (Katsumi & Dolcos, 2020), (Dawel et al., 2021). This study did show patterns in individuals who are in a lower. By highlighting the emotional regulation patterns of this essential workforce, the study aims to inform interventions that support healthier coping strategies and promote both psychological and physical well-being among blue-collar workers.
