Various letters written by James Gardiner who was a party member of the 1873 Hayden Geological Survey which surveyed the Rocky Mountain National Park region of Colorado. The letters are written to his mother and contain information related to his work and travels through Colorado. Letters are part of a larger "1926-1927 Local History Miscellaneous Papers" internal booklet created by the National Park Service.
