Story from a 1929 article of the Rocky Mountain Motorist detailing the origins of the "Namaqua Station" (Mariano's Crossing or Fort Namaqua) trading outpost which operated from 1858 to 1859 and as a stagecoach station after 1862. The story also explores the life of its founder, Mariano Modena (also Mariana Medina).
