Artist's Statement
As a dancer, I find the human body in motion very fascinating from both a scientific and artistic point of view. I am influenced by my studies of anatomy and the design of the human body, especially its appearance in different articulations through space. I believe that what the body says through movement can reveal the details of our inner and personal experiences. I seek to capture intimate expressions of the true human form in my drawings. I am also interested in the procession of time and its allowance for movement. I use mediums such as graphite, charcoal, pastels, and ink to create organic and gestural strokes, and add precise and clean lines to describe specific features. For me, art is an exploration of physical movement interpreted onto a page, and I hope others will discover a new perspective of the human figure when they see my work.
