The luncheon includes a presentation by the 2018 Sears Helgoth Distinguished Teaching Award recipient, Dr. Karen Barton, associate professor in the UNC Department of Geography and GIS. Barton's luncheon keynote presentation will highlight the importance of field education and experiential learning. She will share examples from her faculty- led study abroad courses to Iceland, Guyana, Nepal, Nicaragua and Peru.
