Abstract
On April 9th, 2022, The Immigrant – Original Score was premiered in front of a live audience in Milne Auditorium on the campus of the University of Northern Colorado with thirteen performers and Jared Lane conducting. This new score was written for Charlie Chaplin’s 1917 film The Immigrant.1 While this score was written to encompass the spirit of Chaplin’s film, it was also intended to introduce this one-hundred-year-old film to modern audiences. The Immigrant – Original Score embodies a synthesis of the music of Chaplin’s day and modern film scoring techniques.
