Abstract

This is an abbreviated version of the 90-minute workshop presented at Michener Library in October 2018. The workshop offers an overview of institutional repositories (IRs), how they differ from disciplinary repositories and academic social networking sites, and how faculty can benefit from submitting their work to the UNC IR. Also covered are relevant copyright issues (including publisher policies); the difference between pre-prints, post-prints, and publisher versions; and strategies for negotiating with publishers to share one or more of these versions in an IR. Finally, attendees are guided through the process of submitting their work to Scholarship & Creative Works @ Digital UNC.
