Artist's Biography
Mel was born and raised in Fort Collins, CO and is expected to graduate in December 2020 from the University of Northern Colorado as a Drawing Studio and Art Education double major. She works primarily with two-dimensional media, with a focus on drawing and digital and film photography.
Artist's Statement
I am inspired by individually and collectively lived experiences, the perception of memories over time, and locations as a representation of both of them. My current work is focused on the idea of capturing a snapshot in time and how that moment and memory develops a life of its own. Visually, I am interested in high contrast, black-and-white imagery with a focus on the relationship between people and the landscape they inhabit.
