Abstract
Fundamental tenants of discipline, integrity, and respect can be taught in the classroom. Yet, do we use these tenants as pedagogical inspirations to effectively communicate beyond our scholarly discipline? Using a martial arts framework as a model for enhanced instruction can lead to a student-centered approach that offers students lessons beyond their academic program of study. Participants will walk away with: *Understanding what "Ki" is and why it is important in developing confidence and self-awareness. *Learning about lessons martial arts teach us. *Exploring ways in which martial arts lessons can be applied to teaching and learning.
